Bioprospecting of Amazonian Microorganisms and Plant Secondary Metabolites
The whole event
Opening Session (1 day)
Lectures for the practical course attendees, covering the theoretical background and methodological tools to exploit microbial and plant biodiversity in Amazonia.
Practical Course (3 weeks)
Teaching and training fundamental methods in screening, isolating, identifying, characterizing and conserving bacterial, fungal and plant species, obtained from different environmental sampling sites. The course will provide the attendees with specific practical information about how to design and conduct screening programs, for a variety of biotechnologically important microorganisms and to characterize plant secondary metabolites.
Workshop (2 days)
Plenary lectures, mycology, bacteriology, biochemistry, phytochemistry, ethnobotany, ecology, agro-forestry, conservation management, sociology, biosafety and bioethics.
Closing Session (1 days)
Discussion of the practical course results, emission of certificates.
